nashville food review and twenty restaurant recommendations

Anyone that follows me on social knows how crazy I was about the food in Nashville! When compiling my research we had so many options to choose from that it got a bit overwhelming. I’m going to be sharing recommendations based on the wonderful meals we did have, and then will share the places that came highly recommended that we didn’t get a chance to visit. I narrowed our list based on location, cost, personal food preferences. If you’re traveling anywhere – I recommend you do the same!

Although Phil and I still aren’t sure if it’s pronounced “bar taco” or “bar-ta-co” we loved it here. It has a really relaxed vibe with funky wicker basket lights and wood paneled walls. The menu is surprisingly affordable and the guacamole is some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s also located in the trendy 12 South neighborhood which has lots of shops, bars, restaurants and of course, murals.

Hattie B’s

I think this has to be the top recommended restaurant in all of Nashville and is a must-do on any tourists list. The line is quite long every day of the week but I assure you, it’s worth the wait. With a hole-in-the-wall vibe, it feels like you’re at the friendly neighborhood joint. The chicken is supreme – packed with flavor and deliciousness in every single bite. If you’re worried about heat like I was, don’t worry – you can order your chicken with as much or as little heat as you’d like! I promise, either way is still delicious. The mac and cheese was amazing and fries were swoon worthy with the perfect crunch. We also opted to get the banana pudding per a recommendation from our Uber driver and that was excellently sweet. Favorite meal of the entire trip (and maybe my entire year).

Very chic with a lovely outside patio! We agreed that the food was good, and any regular night we would have been thrilled with it but compared to all the other great places we had been eating it fell a bit short. The food and interior were beautiful though so still worth checking out!

For lunch we visited here and were blown away by how delicious the food was. We immediately understood why it came highly recommended! Their appetizer of cauliflower bites came with the most incredible dips and seasoning. Opting for a lighter option I did a salad which was bursting with flavor and Phil did the chicken which also packed in flavor. One of our favorite meals of the trip.

Five Daughters Bakery

This was a place that came highly recommended and the shop itself is certainly cute and very Instagrammable. We weren’t over the moon about our donuts but also went towards the end of the day so it could be that we were late to the party. Still, it came recommended time and time again so it’s worth a stop to see for yourself.

As mentioned in last weeks Nashville recap, this Italian restaurant is superb. Friendly staff and delicious food. The pizza and the brussel sprouts app are recommended!
